Will Timmy Ask Sarge The Same Question?

I was going to post this in 8ackgr0und N015e's diary today, but thought it might be too late/get lost. BTW, I will always be indebted to 8ackgr0und N015e for sharing such an apt name for warmonger John. 0/ Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran o/

So, if it's fair to ask Obama if he "rejects" unsolicited support, is it also fair to ask Sarge if he regrets being "proud" and "honored" by the support of John Hagee? (Hint to Sarge. This could cost you some votes, "my friend".)

Today I ran across this story in the NY Times political blog.

"Mega-Church Pastor in Texas Backs McCain"

SAN ANTONIO — Senator John McCain got support on Wednesday from an important corner of evangelical Texas when the pastor of a San Antonio mega-church, Rev. John C. Hagee, endorsed Mr. McCain for president. Mr. Hagee, who argues that the United States must join Israel in a preemptive, biblically prophesized military strike against Iran that will lead to the second coming of Christ, praised Mr. McCain for his pro-Israel views.

So, McCain's got the "let's bomb Iran" vote locked up. Why should this surprise us, or cause him any trouble?

Well, the article goes on to say:

Mr. McCain, who has been on a steady search for support among conservative and evangelical leaders who have long distrusted him, said he was "very honored'’ by Mr. Hagee’s endorsement. Asked about Mr. Hagee’s extensive writings on Armageddon and about what one questioner said was Mr. Hagee’s belief that the anti-Christ will be the head of the European Union, Mr. McCain responded that "all I can tell you is that I am very proud to have Pastor John Hagee’s support.'’

So Sarge is obviously pleased to have Mr. Hagee's support.

"Who is this Hagee guy, and who cares?" you may ask.

Well, from Wikipedia:

Hagee has written about the Roman Catholic Church in his book Jerusalem Countdown.

Seems that aside from the allegations about the crusades being "military campaigns of the Roman Catholic church to gain control of Jerusalem from the Muslims and to punish the Jews as the alleged Christ killers on the road to and from Jerusalem", he kinda sorta links the RC church to the Nazis.

When Hitler became a global demonic monster, the Catholic Church and Pope Pius XII never, ever slightly criticized him. Pope Pius XII, called by historians 'Hitler's Pope,' joined Hitler in the infamous Concordat of Collaboration, which turned the youth of Germany over to Nazism, and the churches became the stage background for the bloodthirsty cry, 'Pereat Judea'.

So, I'd like to see Timmah asking Sarge this question:

"Senator Sarge, you said you were "proud" and "honored" to receive the endorsement of John Hagee. Will you reject that endorsement now that you see how batshit crazy this guy is?

Of course, I'd also like to see monkeys fly out of Timmah's butt...
